About NSK

NSK is a global leader in bearing technology, automotive components, and linear motion that has been setting the standard for precision engineering since its inception.

With a rich history of over 100 years, NSK continues to innovate and push the boundaries of bearing technology, earning a worldwide reputation for excellence and reliability in engineering, manufacturing, and service.

History of NSK Bearings

NSK was born as Nippon Seiko Limited Partnership Company in 1914, and in 1916 NSK Ltd. was founded in Yurakucho, Tokyo where the first bearings were produced.

In 1917, NSK was already mass-producing bearings, and they developed rolling bearings for trucks that year.

To keep innovation going, they continued developing new types of bearings over the years, with large-size double-row thrust ball bearings for slewing rim of cranes (OD 510 mm) developed in 1918, deep groove ball bearings for marine gyrocompass rotors in 1925, cylindrical roller bearings for aeroengines in 1926, and so on. In short, NSK has been a pioneer in developing high-precision components throughout history.

By 1947 the company started exporting its products to some Asian countries. Then, in 1958 they were exporting to the US, and closed an agreement with Bosch for small size ball bearings in 1960.

Operations abroad started in 1970 with NSK Manufacturing (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. and Geelong Plant, NSK’s first overseas plant.

Now the company has manufacturing plants and sales offices all over the world.

Jure Pleško is co-owner of Tuli, a family business that helps innovative mechanical engineers by supplying them with machine elements to assemble machines and devices. As part of a family tradition, he grew up with machine elements from an early age and also completed his studies in mechanical engineering, earning a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a 2-year-old child he was also the inspiration for the company name, because at that time he was shouting a lot and hence the name Tuli, which in translation means screaming. Jure is an innovative mechanical engineer himself, which he proved during his student years with the construction of an electric vehicle, which was also awarded by the Slovenian Fund for Human Resources Development and Scholarships.
